About Marshal Worthington
Founder of Southpine Mortgage
In his 37 years in the mortgage industry, Marshal Worthington has worked across every side of the business — from producing loans with a bank, to eight years as an independent mortgage broker, to managing a mortgage department for the last 12 years for a $16 billion bank.
Throughout his career, Marshal has overseen sales teams and lending operations, working closely with underwriters and investors. In 2008, he completed the Mortgage Bankers Association of Alabama Future Leaders Program, and in 2020 he assumed the role of President of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Alabama.
As technology increased, Marshal saw the mortgage process become increasingly impersonal. This was a driving factor in his decision to return to mortgage production as a broker after 15 years of industry management.
One of Marshal’s main callouts of the mortgage industry in its current state is that mortgage loans have too many hands involved. This results in errors and miscommunications throughout the process, leading to client frustration.
This perspective led to the founding of Southpine Mortgage.
Now, as he returns to mortgage production after years in management, his goal is to blend small-business accessibility with modern technology and deep industry experience—from brokering to leadership—to deliver a seamless client experience. No middleman, no unnecessary hands involved—just working directly with Marshal to take your loan from start to finish.
Today, Marshal works directly with clients to guide them through the mortgage process. He understands that investors specialize in different types of lending and that successful outcomes depend on placing each loan with the right partner and managing the process from application through closing.
